Yom HaShoah Program Sunday, April 27, 9:30 AM
Ramat Shalom will hold an inspirational Yom HaShoah Program. This program will be a time to reflect on the six million Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust; to honor those who were somehow able to survive; and to pay tribute to all the brave people, both Jewish and non-Jewish, who risked their own lives to help others. We will have the privilege to hear from a Holocaust Survivor who will be there to tell his story and answer our questions. Please keep in mind that there are fewer and fewer opportunities every year to hear the actual story from a Survivor. The Rabbi and Cantor will be incorporating readings and music into a deeply moving service that will commemorate this day. We will also hear some beautiful songs from our adult choir, Kol HaNeshamah.
The sixth grade Torah School classes will be attending the program. Parents, please, if you can, accompany your children to this powerful program. It can be the starting point for some deep family discussions about the Holocaust, human nature, and life in general. If you think your fourth or fifth- grade students can handle the material, please bring them, but they MUST be accompanied by an adult. Please use careful discretion before bringing your third-graders. This program is absolutely not for anyone in second grade or below. There will be Torah School that day; children attending the program will be excused. Non-members are welcome.
