Ramat Shalom is Affiliated with the Reconstructionist Movement

Ramat Shalom is one of the oldest synagogues in Broward County. The congregation was founded in 1976 as a small, Jewish discussion group that met in members’ homes. The group quickly grew into a synagogue with many members, a rabbi, a building, and an organized school. Despite its increase in size, the congregation has never lost the small, intimate feeling that characterized Ramat Shalom from the outset. We pride ourselves on being a real community of Jews who care for each other, celebrate with each other, and grow with each other. We invite you to make Ramat Shalom your Jewish home.

Ramat Shalom is very proud of our award winning Early Childhood Center. Our program has received national accreditation status from NAEYC. The collaboration of dedicated teachers and supportive families provides a creative, warm, and nurturing environment in which our youngest children receive a tremendous secular and Judaic education year round.

Our innovative Torah School and Continuing Teen Education Program make Judaism relevant to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our dedicated, experienced faculty immerse our children in an educational program full of Jewish living, history, traditions, Hebrew reading and meaningful Jewish experiences. And, of course, our Youth Groups help children of all ages develop a social connection to our congregation.

Our Adult Education program reaches out to our most learned members to those who have little to no Jewish knowledge. Our Sunday Morning Adult Torah School is one of our most popular programs, attracting many of our parents and grandparents who want to learn while their children our learning. We offer Beginning and Intermediate Hebrew classes, Torah study, Talmud classes, and a myriad of courses in Jewish history, philosophy, and tradition.

We have regular Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat morning services. We are a child friendly congregation – we want our families to join us together. Our services combine Hebrew, appropriate English readings, and a great deal of music. During our services, our rabbi offers explanations that make the service relevant and meaningful. He also engages us in a discussion about the weekly Torah portion or other pertinent issue.

Ramat Shalom is a very warm, social community. There are many events throughout the year that allow us to come together as an extended family. We hope to welcome you to one of these events!
